Case Air Software Updates to Version 3

Tether Tools has released an update to Case Remote, the companion app for the Case Air Wireless Tethering System, to version 3 for all platforms including iOS, Mac OS, Android, and Windows.

The update improves performance, includes bug fixes and adds a few new features. Since launching Case Air in October 2016 Tether Tools has diligently solicited feedback and has worked hard to to continually improve the user experience of Case Air. Here’s how to update the Case Remote app for each platform:

iPad and iPhone

  • Go to the the App Store app on your iOS device
  • Tap on Updates in the lower right corner
  • Under Pending Updates, look for Case Remote and tap Update to the right or simply tap Update All in the upper right corner

Android

  • Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device
  • Tap Menu and then My apps & games
  • Look for Case Remote and tap the Update button

Mac OS

  • Open the App Store program on your Mac
  • Click Updates in the upper bar in the app
  • Under Pending Updates, click Update next to Case Remote

Windows

  • Download the latest version here
  • Extract the Zip file to your computer
  • Double click on the setup application in the extracted folder
  • Follow the on screen prompts

  1. q1: Is there any documentation, anywhere, of the Windows version of the Case Remote software v.3?

    q2: Using a camera with dual card slots and the Windows Case Remote software, is there any way to control whether the images being saved to a specific card are downloaded or not?

    q3: Failing that, is there any way to, e .g. have only JPG files transferred and leave Raw files on the camera?

    1. There is no Windows specific documentation as of yet. We are working on it.

    2. There is not support for dual card camera options at the moment. It is in development.

    3. Current, what ever setting you have on the camera is what is transferred to Windows. However, we are working on a feature to explicitly exclude the RAW file if desired.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Respectfully, it is a poor business decision to release a product without documentation. If you have to do so, the least one might expect would be a notice like “manual in development” somewhere. This would save your customers (and potential customers) a lot of time scouring your site and caseremote.com for non-existent documentation.

    I know the Case Air is a newly-released product, so there will be bumps and the software will get better. But right now, the out-of-box user experience I had using the Case Air with both the Android and Windows apps was lousy. That said, the hardware seems solid, and the quick replies here and via email are appreciated.

  4. On your site it says …check focus peaking,histogram…
    it also says pinch to zoom
    I received the item…none of those features are available on my android smart phone.

    I have puchased several items from tether tools and have not been disappointed…but I might be with this item.

    The hardware is good and it works fine…but all I can get the software to do is see a photo and focus by touching the screen. I can change values for my camera. Like iso and aperture, shutter. And I assume HDR , focus stacking work…will try those later. however I have only a small subset of settings items ..no full screen mode, no flyout menus to show histogram or focus peaking…and since live view on the camera does not work when connected …I lose the histogram when connected

    The answer I received was that those features do not work on windows…but work on MOST android and ios

    I guess my samsung android is not one of the MOST… so I have an expensive intervalometer…they should be more clear before you purchase one…or tell you when it will be fixed.

  5. A readable password would help a lot. I’ve had to enter it four times because I have trouble in reading it 6 looks like 8 and so on.

    Thanks for your feedback. I have added a feature matrix on the product listing on our website and we are working to bring all the platforms up to the same level of functionality.

  7. It worked for about 5 minutes then my camera battery went dead, after I replaced the battery the remote never worked again! I have the latest apps for the iPhone and ipad Pro tablet but am still having problems with the remote. I keep getting the “No Camera Error” message on my iPhone and although I don’t get the same message on my iPad all the time, it won’t allow me to us any of the “buttons” on the app. Any ideas?
