The Sony a65 is a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 DSLR camera and compatible with the TetherPro USB A to Mini B 5 pin cable (Sony SLT-A65V compatible). Available in high-visibility orange or black, the TetherPro cable features gold-plated connectors for corrosion resistance, ensuring consistent and reliable conductivity. A ferrite core is also included to filter out signal noise and reduce transmission errors. Additionally, all TetherPro cables are fully shielded to protect against external signal interference.

The TetherPro USB A to Mini B, available in various lengths including 15 feet (4.6m), connects to the Sony a65 via the USB Mini-B port located on the side of the DSLR body. This cable is designed and manufactured to highest USB specifications, ensuring delivery of excellent performance.

USB specifications recommend limiting the length of a passive USB cable to 15 feet. If you plan to tether your camera longer than 15 feet, you will need an active extension. USB Active Extension, available in 16, 32, 49 or 65 feet (5, 9.7,15 or 20m), used in conjunction with your passive USB cable, will boost the signal, reduce transmission errors and lower noise, enabling the longer tethering distances when needed.

  1. Hi Chris – It appears Sony has not released the firmware yet for tethering functionality with the SLT-A65V yet.

  2. Hi,
what does it mean? The right tethering like live view on my notebook and making pictures from notebook? Although sony says tethering doesn´t function?

Which software do i need for? Lightroom, capture one 8 (sony) or what else?

I have a USB cable “Lindy USB 2.0 USB A to USB Mini B 5” but it doesn´t function.

I hope to get answer if the Sony a65 really supports tethering with the Tether Pro cable!

    Thanks for help!
    Nic

  3. Nic,
Unfortunately the a65 is still without tethering support from Sony, so it won’t be possible to shoot tethered. This cable would be used just to transfer files to your computer.
